The previous owner even pre-paid for 3 years of oil changes that would transfer to me, but I'm still not taking it to them. Even then I'll try to find a way around it. Everyday Diesel Treatment (EDT) fuel additive infused with LX4 Lubricity Extreme is a concentrated six-in-one diesel treatment with a powerful cetane. I will never, never, not ever pay BMW one penny to service my car, unless it needs something that only they can do (hopefully NEVER). Bosch specifies 460 micron, so the pumps wear more rapidly in the US without a lubricity additive. European EN-590 testing specifies a 460 micron wear scar, ASTM US D-975 specifies 520 micron and is commonly tested to show 560 micron. Looking over the service invoice from the previous owner makes me angry. Lubrication is just as critical for Bosch CR HPFPs. What the ****!!! ECS sells 2.5 gallon jugs of DEF for $30, and Walmart has it for even less. Side note: BMW charged the previous owner $146!!!! to add DEF (Adblue). bottle treats 400 gallons of diesel fuel. So my question is: Do I need to add ANYTHING to my oil when I change it, or to my fuel when I fill up? Or is this just something BMW does to pad their bottom line? Increases Fuel & Engine Efficiency Dosing Information: Premium Dose: 1 oz. Everyday Diesel Treatment (EDT) is a concentrated 6-in-1 diesel additive formulated to resolve issues with today’s Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD). Nothing on the paperwork seems to have a valid part number for either additive. EDT is recommended for ALL DIESEL ENGINES because it is completely ashless and has no adverse effects on engine components. The good news is Hot Shots recently added lubricity to their additives. The early Hot Shots EDT lacked lubricity, which is needed to preclude fuel pump failure. The dealer used a diesel oil conditioner and a diesel fuel system cleaner during the service, or at least the paperwork says they did. If you choose to use an additive it will not have a positive or negative effect on your fuel system. In reviewing the paperwork I got from the seller of my 2016 BMW 535d, which shows everything done by the local BMW dealer in June '23, I noticed a couple of interesting things.
